Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Early Life and Family Background
Vaibhav Suryavanshi was born on 27 March 2011 in Tajpur, a town in the Samastipur district of Bihar, India. He grew up in a family with a strong interest in cricket, particularly through his father, Sanjiv Suryavanshi. Although Sanjiv had played cricket in his younger years, he never established a professional career. He later devoted considerable time to developing his son’s sporting abilities.
Vaibhav began playing cricket at approximately four years old. His father recognised his interest and started coaching him using basic training methods at home. As his batting developed, the family made arrangements for more structured coaching. These early efforts laid the foundation for his move into competitive cricket.
His mother, Aarti Suryavanshi, also supported his sporting development. The family’s commitment became particularly important when Vaibhav began travelling long distances for training. His childhood increasingly revolved around school, cricket practice, and competitive matches.
Education and Early Cricket Training
Suryavanshi attended school in Bihar while receiving specialised cricket training. Detailed information about his current school and academic progress has not been consistently documented in reliable public records. His educational routine has had to accommodate the demands of professional cricket and international travel.
At approximately eight years old, he joined the GenNex Cricket Academy in Patna, where former Ranji Trophy player Manish Ojha helped develop his batting technique. His father regularly accompanied him on journeys of approximately 100 kilometres from Samastipur to Patna. These trips allowed him to train with experienced coaches.
Under Ojha’s guidance, Vaibhav worked on batting balance, shot selection, timing, and playing different types of bowling. He developed an attacking approach, often attempting boundaries early in his innings. His left-handed batting style and powerful stroke play became defining features of his game.
Domestic Cricket Debut for Bihar at Age 12

Although he was still developing his batting at senior domestic level, the selection demonstrated the confidence Bihar’s cricket authorities had in his potential. His performances in age-group competitions had already attracted attention from selectors.

He made his IPL debut on 19 April 2025 against Lucknow Super Giants. Facing Shardul Thakur, he struck the first ball of his IPL career for six. The shot immediately introduced his aggressive batting style to a much larger audience.
During his debut season, he played seven matches and scored 252 runs. He maintained a strike rate above 200, showing an ability to score quickly against established professional bowlers.
